Most full and mid-size family cars can pull a
trailer; so can today's popular vans, SUVs, and light-duty trucks. Your auto
dealer can tell you more about the towing capacity of your particular vehicle.
Your tow vehicle must have an adequate tow
rating and must be equipped with the following:
Hitch Receiver: A 2”X2”
hitch receiver is required. FOX RV
provides a hitch complete with a hitch ball to fit into a 2”X2” hitch receiver.
Anti-sway equaliser bars are also provided.
The hitch receiver
height must be such as to permit the trailer to be towed level.
Wiring:
Travel trailers require a 7-pole RV-style
receptacle on the tow vehicle that provides the following:
tail lamps, left and right turn signals, brake lights, electric brakes
and charge line.
Brakes: An
electric brake controller is required in the
tow vehicle.
Mirrors: Adequate mirrors are required.
FOX RV does
not install or modify hitches or wiring. To avoid a disappointing delay on your
departure day, we encourage you to have your tow vehicle prepared by a qualified
professional well in advance. You may wish to arrange to test your wiring on
one of our trailers prior to your departure day.
